In a gay world obsessed with being straight-acting (see Lance Bass, online personals and the overly-masculine-worshiping gay media), it seems I stand in the minority with those who celebrate the sissies. Sissies are the bravest element of our community; they are our leaders. This is true historically (see the Stonewall Riots) but also holds true now. Let me be clear: without the sissies, fags of all stripes would not have the freedoms we currently enjoy. Period. Sissies (and drag queens and trannies) take the heat for the rest of us. If we relied on the closeted, butch types in New York City, the Stonewall Riots would never have happened, and our community would be 20 years behind in our freedoms from where we are now. It was a bitch in heels that threw that first brick. Butch bears and Abercrombie + Fitch types can parade up and down the streets of Anytown, USA and never threaten anyone. Their masculinity is generally accepted and gender-appropriateness plays a larger role in homophobia than many realize; as long as a man acts like a man, his sexuality can be easily hidden or ignored. A sissy cannot be ignored. A sissy cannot hide himself no matter what he's wearing or where he's parading; the feminine qualities of his walk, his voice, his appearance confuses appropriate gender roles, threatening not only the concept of masculinity itself but also how we traditionally relate to women and men alike.

The sissy threatens not only most of straight society but also much of the gay one as well. Often the strongest, most viscerally hateful, reactions to sissies are gay men themselves. Personal ads are filled with "no fems" and "I'm looking for a MAN" types of descriptions that take pains (and capital letters) to point out that sissies need not apply, because A. they are not REAL men; B. a sissy has a supposedly neutered sexuality; and C. being with one is the same as being with a woman. (In my own experience I can assure the hesitant that some of the biggest cocks I have seen have been on sissy guys—penis size being another conventional measurement of masculinity. Also, I am relatively butch on my own and hanging out with and hooking up with many sissies over the years has not changed my own style at all. Lastly, if you think having sex with a sissy is like being with a woman, then I can safely say you've never had sex with either.)

To see some of the disgust pointed at sissies, check out one of my all-time favorite blogs, Bryanboy. Besides being a sissy, Bryanboy is a high-fashion diva whose obsessions with clothes and being skinny are two of his top concerns. While many castigate him for being shallow, Bryanboy is so damn funny, witty, and self-aware that the criticism seems to miss the point by a mile. He is a walking performance art piece drawing our attention to gay men's love of fashion, body image, and celebrity worship. On fashion: Bryanboy is obsessed with clothes and accessories, and he gets ripped a new one every day on his blog for this. Meanwhile, every other fag out there is obsessed with A+F but no one bats an eye. The only difference I see is that Bryanboy's clothes are much better and therefore stand out. Every frat dude in America wears A+F, so by fags wearing it they are not only supporting a anti-gay company but also the same A+F wearing assholes who beat them up. On body image: who is obsessed more with body image than Bryanboy? Well, how about we start with the bear community's obsession with body type or circuit queens who have their one single body type they worship? (I can count into the hundreds the number of gay blogs and websites slavishly devoted, either explicitly or implicitly, to muscular and jockish white males.) The problem with those of us who obsess over thin and hairless bodies is that we are into something many other fags do not consider to be masculine, therefore it is inferior, feminine, and unworthy of being obsessed over. But add 200 pounds and a bunch of body hair and we feel better — we are now in the realm of masculinity, safe and comforting. And don't get me started on the Asian male body — I would say that the distaste that many gay men have for Asian men derives as much from this narrow definition of masculinity than it does from racism.

Sorry to have gone on so long, but this is an issue I have written about before and am very interested in. I have considered writing a book on the subject of masculinity and gay men. Someone else already has, and until I publish (or even write) mine, you should check this one out: Sissyphobia.

To close on a more Deuce La Cock-like note, I would like to once again state that I think some sissies are fucking hot, especially when they wear really tight jeans. This definitely includes Bryanboy. No blogger makes me more wet than Bryanboy. How I wish I was the white boy in those last photos. Also definitely make sure you check out the cock stuffed into those tight jeans in the last pic. Finally, sissy or not, the ass on this boy is straight up out of control. Baboosh, indeed!

In honor of my new sissy boyfriend, Bryanboy, all week long I am going to buck the system and post nothing but pictures of sissy boys. In the immortal words of Bryanboy, "Keep the Faggotry Alive!"
